2026 — a run for the State House

In 2026 Woody stood for the South Carolina House in District 112 because he believed this community deserved representation that listens first, explains its decisions, and remembers who government exists to serve.

He ran as a businessman and employer rather than a career politician — someone who had spent decades meeting payroll, managing risk and answering to customers, and who thought that experience might be useful in Columbia.

Growth was arriving faster than the roads, schools and emergency access needed to carry it. Insurance and everyday costs were climbing faster than incomes. Small employers were carrying too much of the paperwork and too little of the attention.

The campaign was built around those conversations rather than around slogans — hundreds of front doors, driveways, kitchen tables, coffee shops and business back rooms.

Running for office teaches humility quickly. It also teaches something hopeful: most people here are not angry. They are tired of not being heard.

The results did not go our way. The reasons behind the run haven't changed.

Woody remains a neighbor in Mount Pleasant, still following the same subjects, still glad to be asked. Service was never conditional on holding office.

To every neighbor who opened a door, every family who put a sign in the yard, every volunteer who gave up a Saturday morning, and everyone who took the time to say plainly what worries them about this community — thank you.

Thank you to my wife, Debi, and to our family, who carried more of this than anyone outside our home will ever see. Thank you to the friends who made calls, the business owners who let me interrupt their afternoon, and the folks who simply said "good luck" on the sidewalk. It mattered.
