The South Carolina Outlook
Something new is coming this fall
August 17, 2026

During the campaign, I had hundreds of conversations about South Carolina — at front doors, in businesses, over meals and with people who see our state from very different perspectives.
The election ended. Those conversations didn't.
This fall, I'm launching The South Carolina Outlook — a Quarterly note about the people, issues and decisions shaping our state.
We'll talk about growth and the infrastructure needed to support it. Jobs, investment and the businesses that create them. Insurance, risk and the rising cost of living. Taxes and accountable government. Our ports, coast and resilience. Education, families and the future we're building for our children and grandchildren.
And we'll look beyond South Carolina, too.
Trade, energy, supply chains, national security and events far beyond our borders have a way of reaching our businesses, our ports and ultimately our kitchen tables.
This November, South Carolinians will make important choices about the leadership of our state and our representation in Washington.
New leaders will take office. Old challenges will remain. And there will be important questions about what comes next — and how those of us who care about this state can help.
I'll have some thoughts.
More importantly, I want to hear yours.
