Our roads were built for a smaller town. Growth keeps arriving whether the pavement does or not.
Why this still matters
Nothing came up more often at the door than traffic. Highway 17, Long Point Road, Highway 41, the school-run bottlenecks — these are daily quality-of-life issues, not abstractions.
Growth is not going to stop. The question is whether infrastructure, emergency access, and school capacity arrive with it or years behind it.

- SCDOT timelines for the Highway 17 intersections at Long Point Road and Highway 41
- Whether approved projects actually break ground on schedule
- Emergency-vehicle access and evacuation routes as density increases
- How new development approvals line up with road and school capacity
