What Woody Will Fight For

Woody Sprouse is running to protect the values, freedoms, and quality of life that make District 112 such a special place to call home.

From safer roads and lower taxes to protecting parents’ rights and supporting local businesses, Woody is focused on the issues that matter most to Lowcountry families.

These are practical, common-sense priorities rooted in conversations with the people who live, work, raise families, and own businesses right here in our community.

Roads

TRAFFIC, SAFETY & RESPONSIBLE GROWTH

Fix Traffic. Improve Safety. Protect Our Quality of Life.

District 112 families deal with dangerous congestion and growing traffic frustrations every single day — from Highway 17 to the I-526 interchange and the Isle of Palms Connector. Woody Sprouse believes public safety must come first. That means bringing state, local, and federal leaders together immediately to accelerate road improvements, improve traffic flow, strengthen emergency access, and ensure future growth does not outpace infrastructure. Woody will work aggressively with SCDOT, local officials, federal agencies, and South Carolina's congressional delegation to secure every available dollar for road safety and infrastructure improvements in District 112.

Day One Action Items

  • Convene a District 112 Traffic & Safety Roundtable with SCDOT, local leaders, emergency services, engineers, and community stakeholders
  • Work with South Carolina's congressional delegation to secure federal Community Project Funding and infrastructure grants for District 112 road safety projects
  • Fight to accelerate improvements to the I-526 / Highway 17 interchange
  • Push for AI-driven traffic signal synchronization and smart traffic flow technology along Highway 17
  • Secure long-term repair and resilience funding for the Isle of Palms Connector
  • Oppose irresponsible overdevelopment that worsens congestion and strains public safety infrastructure

Economy

Small Business & Local Jobs

Support local businesses. Create jobs closer to home.

Small businesses are the backbone of our community. Woody believes North Mount Pleasant deserves more than endless housing growth and longer commutes. Families should be able to live, work, shop, and build their future right here in District 112. Woody will fight to support local businesses, attract quality employers, reduce unnecessary red tape, and encourage smart growth that strengthens our community — without overburdening our roads, schools, and neighborhoods.

Day One Action Items

  • Support tax incentives for small and locally owned businesses
  • Cut unnecessary permitting delays for local entrepreneurs
  • Encourage restaurants, retail, and professional services in underserved areas of District 112
  • Support workforce partnerships with Trident Tech and local employers
  • Oppose reckless overdevelopment that worsens traffic and strains infrastructure

Cost of Living

Lower Costs. Lower Taxes. Stronger Families.

It's time to make South Carolina affordable again.

Families across District 112 are feeling the squeeze every day — from rising insurance costs and property taxes to higher grocery bills, energy costs, and the annual car tax. Woody Sprouse understands that hardworking families and retirees cannot afford more government while trying to afford everyday life. That's why Woody will fight to lower taxes, reduce rising insurance costs, eliminate wasteful spending, and help families keep more of what they earn. Because government should make life easier for families — not harder.

Day One Action Items

  • Crack down on fraud and lawsuit abuse that drive up insurance premiums
  • Continue reducing South Carolina income taxes
  • Fight to eliminate or significantly reduce the annual vehicle property tax
  • Oppose new taxes, hidden fees, and wasteful government spending
  • Protect retirees, homeowners, and working families from rising costs

Environment

PROTECTING OUR COAST & COMMUNITIES

Protect Our Beaches, Waterways & Island Access.

The beaches, marshes, and barrier islands of District 112 are part of what makes the Lowcountry special — and they are vital to our economy, our quality of life, and our way of life. But erosion, storm damage, flooding, and aging infrastructure threaten both our communities and our future. Woody Sprouse will fight to protect our coastline, strengthen storm resilience, improve emergency access, and ensure our communities can recover quickly after hurricanes and severe weather. He believes protecting our natural resources and protecting our local economy go hand in hand.

Day One Action Items

  • Work with state and federal leaders to secure funding for beach renourishment on Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island
  • Accelerate long-term repair and resilience planning for the Isle of Palms Connector
  • Push for faster emergency permitting and post-storm recovery approvals
  • Support marsh restoration and living shoreline projects that naturally reduce erosion and flooding
  • Advocate for resilient infrastructure investments that protect residents, businesses, and emergency access routes

Local Government

KEEP LOWCOUNTRY TAX DOLLARS LOCAL

Our Community Shouldn't Be Last in Line for Its Own Tax Dollars.

The Lowcountry generates billions in tax revenue every year through tourism, business growth, and hardworking families — yet too often our communities are forced to fight for basic infrastructure, road improvements, and public safety funding. Woody Sprouse believes the people of Mount Pleasant and District 112 deserve a stronger voice in how our tax dollars are spent. He will fight to keep more Lowcountry revenue here at home — where it can improve roads, strengthen public safety, support local priorities, and protect our quality of life. Because the people closest to the community usually know best what the community needs.

Day One Action Items

  • Fight to ensure more tax dollars generated in the Lowcountry are reinvested in Lowcountry communities
  • Push for greater transparency and accountability in how state funds are distributed
  • Advocate for local control over infrastructure and growth-related funding priorities
  • Work to ensure Charleston County and Mount Pleasant receive their fair share for roads, public safety, and community services
  • Support responsible funding solutions that give local communities more flexibility and less dependence on Columbia bureaucracies

Education

Education & Parental Rights

Full curriculum transparency. Parental consent. Local control.

Parents have a fundamental right to know what their children are being taught and to have a say in sensitive educational matters. Woody will fight for full curriculum transparency, parental consent requirements for age-inensitive classroom content, and local school board authority over library materials. He believes the best decisions about education are made closest to the child — by parents and local communities, not bureaucrats in Columbia or Washington.

Day One Action Items

  • Support the Parents' Bill of Rights and full curriculum transparency legislation
  • Vote to require parental opt-in consent for sensitive or age-inappropriate classroom topics
  • Restore local school board authority over library and classroom materials decisions
  • Oppose federal and state overreach into local education policy
